Delete your Whispia account

This page explains how to delete your account in Whispia — the app listed on Google Play as Whispia Mobile, published by Solventus LLC (developer name “Solventus”) — and exactly what is deleted, what is kept, and for how long. Deletion is permanent: there is no grace period and a deleted account cannot be restored.

Request deletion by email — works for every account

You do not need the app, or even your phone, to start. This route works for Android, iPhone and Spaces accounts alike.

  1. Email info@whispia.io with the subject “Delete my Whispia account”. You can write from any email address.
  2. Include the phone number you registered with Whispia, with its country code. If you also use Spaces, include the email address or @handle of your Whispia ID.
  3. We confirm the account is yours before deleting anything — for example by texting a one-time code to that number and asking you to send it back. We will never ask for your password or your recovery passphrase.
  4. We delete the account and the data listed below, then email you to confirm. We complete every request within 30 days of confirming it is yours.

Delete from inside the app

Whispia for iPhone: open the You tab and tap Delete Whispia account. Type DELETE, tap Permanently delete account, then confirm with Face ID or your passcode. If asked, enter the code we text you or sign in to your Whispia ID again. This deletes your messenger account and, if you have one, your Spaces account, then erases Whispia from the phone.

Whispia Mobile for Android (version 1.0.5 or later): open the You tab, tap Delete Whispia account, then Continue. Confirm with your fingerprint, face or screen lock, type DELETE, then tap Permanently delete account. If asked, enter the code we text you or sign in to your Whispia ID again. This deletes your messenger account and, if you have one, your Spaces account, then erases Whispia from the phone. On version 1.0.4 or earlier, please use the email request above. To erase everything Whispia stores on your phone straight away, open the You tab, tap Wipe local data, then Erase everything. On its own, that clears the phone but does not delete your account on our servers.

What is deleted

Your Whispia messenger account (phone number)

  • Your device registrations, public keys, display name and profile details in the Whispia directory.
  • The encrypted photos, videos, voice notes and files you uploaded, and your access to files other people shared with you.
  • Your membership of chats and channels. One-to-one and group chats left with fewer than two members are deleted; channels you own pass to another admin or member.
  • Call-signalling records, invite links, push-notification tokens, and any link between your phone number and a Whispia ID.

Your Spaces account, if you have one

  • Your profile — handle, display name, photo and public keys — and the phone number and email address attached to it.
  • Your devices, push-notification tokens and your encrypted recovery-phrase backup.
  • Spaces you own and channels you own, and the messages, files, tasks, documents and comments you created. (If you own the only #general channel of somebody else's Space, that channel passes to another member; your own messages in it are still deleted.)
  • Any paid plan: the subscription is cancelled and your customer profile with our payment processor is deleted.

On your phone

  • Your messages, contacts, media and encryption keys live only on your devices. Deleting your account from the iPhone app or the Android app (1.0.5 or later) erases them from that phone. On any Android version, uninstalling Whispia Mobile — or You → Wipe local data — also erases them; Whispia does not use Android cloud backup.

Your Whispia ID — the single sign-in that Whispia shares with other Lockia products — is not closed automatically. To close it as well, say so in your email and we will delete it within the same 30 days.

What is kept, and for how long

Our messaging relay never stores your phone number in readable form, and we cannot read your messages, calls or files. After deletion, only the following remains:

Messages you already sent
They are end-to-end encrypted and stored on the recipients' devices, which we cannot reach or read.
Until the recipients delete them
A deletion marker: a one-way keyed hash of your phone number and the time of deletion
Stops sign-in sessions issued before the deletion from ever being reused. It is a one-way hash, not your number, and is used for nothing else.
For as long as Whispia operates
A Spaces deletion record: a random account ID, a hash of the deletion receipt and timestamps
Proves the deletion finished and lets an interrupted deletion resume safely. It contains no name, number, email or content.
For as long as Whispia operates
Key-transparency entries: a random account ID and a hash of your public keys
An append-only log that lets everyone verify keys were never swapped; entries cannot be edited without breaking it. No name, number, email or content.
For as long as Whispia operates
Workspace history in Spaces you don't own (admin actions, task history, support cases)
Kept for the workspace's own records, with your name removed from each entry.
For as long as the workspace exists
Sealed message envelopes in our delivery network
Messages are carried to devices as ciphertext addressed to a random device ID. We cannot read them, and once your account is deleted nothing links them to your phone number or account.
Held only in that unreadable, unlinked form
Invoices and payment records, if you paid for a plan
Kept by our payment processor because tax and accounting law requires it.
As long as the law requires
Records of verification texts
Our SMS delivery provider keeps its own delivery records for codes we sent to your number.
Under the provider's retention policy
Server backups
Routine backups of our servers may still contain deleted data until they expire. They are never used to bring a deleted account back.
Up to 40 days

Delete some data without deleting your account

  • Delete message, or Clear chat, in any conversation: removes that message or that chat's history, and its cached media, from your phone.
  • Wipe local data (You → Wipe local data → Erase everything): erases every conversation, contact, media file and key on that phone. Your account stays open; you can verify your number again to start fresh.
  • Anything stored on our servers — your display name or photo, files you uploaded, your Spaces content, or the link between your number and a Whispia ID: email info@whispia.io with the subject “Delete some of my Whispia data” and say what you want removed. We confirm the request is yours as above and complete it within 30 days, and tell you if something can only be removed by deleting the whole account.
